“Head in the Wind”  1963 by Miller Brittain (Canadian 1912-1968)

Ever since I met Linda (23 years ago this summer) she’s talked about wanting to visit Newfoundland. Well, it may have taken awhile, but we are currently on a two week vacation to “the rock” as they call it hereabouts. Miller Brittain’s painting of “Head in the Wind” from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton, New Brunswick captures a bit of our experience in Newfoundland thus far…hair in the strong breeze – eyes wide open. This morning we woke up in our B&B in St. John’s  to the sound of strong winds and rain hitting our windows. I’ve included the photo that Linda took from our room. Looks like we’ll be making good use of our rain gear today and head to the nearest coffeeshop downtown. More photos and stories from Newfoundland to come in the next few entries. Enjoy the day!

On the road,

Dave
